Direct marketing and Internet investment company CMG Information Services Inc. announced that it has acquired online ad-management software company Accipiter Inc. for $35 million in CMG stock. According to a statement released by CMG, Andover, MA, Accipiter will merge with CMG subsidiary Engage Technologies, which CMG says has the world's largest database of behavior-based profiles of anonymous Web-site visitors. According to CMG, Accipiter's AdManager software is in use at more than 1,000 Web sites, including InfoBeat, CNET, Lycos, MSNBC and Prodigy. According to the release, Engage/Accipiter will offer a more comprehensive Internet profiling, targeting and ad-delivery system to clients than is available from either firm.
